Bengston Woodworks was formed in 2002 out of a love for trees and wood.  Through schooling in forestry, experience in the woods, inheriting tools and machinery from my grandfather, I was able to turn a self taught hobby into a business with a healthy dose of trial and error.  Years ago, I ran a portable sawmill that ran on a pull start VW engine with a friend.  I learned how to dissect a tree to produce lumber which gives a woodworker a better understanding of their medium and where it comes from.

The pieces I produce are what I call functional art.  Woods are carefully selected and put together that are eye pleasing and in turn functional.  NW native hardwoods and other domestic woods are utilized where the source is known as opposed to exotic, tropical woods that come from questionable logging practices far away.
